2010 Fisher Cup Results

Here are the results of the 2010 Fisher Cup (results can also be seen on the US SQUASH website here):

Premiere Division

Brian O’Hora faced Pablo Buitron, the Bethesda Sport & Health Club champion, in the semifinals. After dropping the first game 12-10, O’Hora won three straight in convincing fashion, 11-7, 11-4, 11-3. In the other semifinals match Dan Petrie beat Bryan Keating 11-8, 11-7, 11-4.

The finals match was a very exciting match that went to five games with O’Hora winning 11-13, 11-8, 11-8, 10-12, 11-3.

Bryan Keating took third place, beating Pablo Buitron 12-14, 11-4, 11-7, 15-13.

Women’s A/B Division

In the Women’s A/B division, Bettina Aten beat Deb Phippard in the semis 11-3, 5-11, 11-4, 11-7. Larisa Stephenson defeated Jackie Corrigan-Curray 11-4, 11-8, 11-6.

Stephenson won the finals 11-8, 11-9, 8-11, 11-9. Phippard won third place 11-9, 11-7, 11-7.


Division 2

Richard Scott defeated Joel Vengrin in the semifinals 11-6, 11-9, 11-8. David Easwaran beat Paul Koprowski in four games, 7-11, 11-8, 11-5, 14-12.

Scott and Easwaran battled in a closely contested five-game final, with Scott winning, 11-9, 3-11, 7-11, 11-7, 11-8. Paul Koprowski won the third place match in a forfeit.

Division 3

Steven Wydler cruised through the semifinals and finals, beating Angel Botto 9-3, 9-5, 9-5 and then Munish Sikka in the finals 9-6, 9-4, 9-4. Sikka advanced to the finals by overcoming Steven Epstein 9-3, 9-7, 3-9, 10-8.

Angel Botto won the third place match.

Division 4

Geoffrey Keating won division 4, taking 18 straight games. Jeremy Ho ran up a big lead in game 1 of the final, but Geoffrey battled back to a 10-8 victory, then won the next two games 9-5, 9-4.

Keating beat Asid Idris 9-2, 9-0, 9-5 to make the final, while Ho beat Aaron Beitman 9-7, 9-7, 9-10, 9-2. Idris took third place in a four game match that featured two tie breakers, 10-8, 2-9, 9-4, 10-9.

Division 5

Hendrik Dey and Andrew Lazerow both won tough five game semifinals matches. Lazerow beat Sarah Davidson 9-6, 4-9, 6-9, 9-3, 9-4. Dey defeated Kyle Pasternak 9-1, 8-10, 6-9, 9-5, 9-7.

Dey beat Lazerow in the final 9-1, 9-3, 9-6. Davidson took third place in a forfeit.

Women’s C/D Division

Donna Sharpe beat Ubu Grace 9-4, 9-6, 9-2.
